Academics and researchers may be familiar with journals and publications from SAGE Publishing, a well-known academic publisher. Its offerings include original research and review articles that cover a wide range of subject areas across the social sciences, business, the humanities, science, technology and medicine.
Now, NIE students and staff can have access to more of such high quality, peer-reviewed research journals with the upgrade of our subscription from the current Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) Package to SAGE Premier, the largest journals package offered by SAGE.
Wider Coverage
Previously, the HSS Package provided access to over 700 journal titles and over 700,000 articles. Journals accessible in this package were limited to titles within the humanities and social sciences disciplines.
With SAGE Premier, users can now access over 1,100 peer-reviewed journals published by SAGE (over 1 million articles), with new content to be added to the package every year. SAGE Premier also offers a broader interdisciplinary coverage in additional subject areas, which now includes business, science, technology and medicine.

647 of the journal titles found in SAGE Premier are currently ranked in the JCR, with 197 journals in the top 30% of the JCR rankings within their respective categories. 257 SAGE journal titles are ranked in the Science Citation Index (SCI), with 45 journals in the top 25% of SCI categories. Furthermore, 439 SAGE journal titles are ranked in the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), with 132 journals in the top 25% of the SSCI categories.

Winners in Discover SAGE Journals Online Quiz
NIE students, faculty and staff participated in the “Discover SAGE Journals 2021” online quiz in September last year. The short online quiz was designed to help participants familiarise themselves with the SAGE Journals platform – how to navigate the platform and locate relevant information related to journals and articles. Even more exciting were the attractive prizes such as an iPad, an AirPods Pro, and many more.

Out of the 1,039 entries received from four participating institutions in Singapore, 121 entries were submitted by NIE students, faculty and staff. A total of 21 winners from NIE won prizes such as Grab e-vouchers, power banks and an AirPod.
