Stargazer: Latest Orientation Virtual Game

Held from 2 to 3 August 2022, the freshmen orientation this year was entitled αστέρια. Pronounced as "aster", the Greek word for "star" was chosen as the theme by the Orientation Planning Management Committee (OPMC) to reflect the diversity of backgrounds and talents among student teachers. Together, they aspire to become the guiding stars for their students in the future.

Continuing our partnership with the OPMC, the NIE Library's online game was redesigned to reflect the theme accordingly.

Entitled Stargazer, the online game aims to introduce freshmen to library services and facilities available to them. Participants had to gather clues about the constellation which will help them navigate their way through a sea of stars.

Some examples of the questions in the game

The game comprised three rounds with increasing levels of difficulty. During the game, participants had to find answers to quiz questions on the Library Portal, library catalogue, newsletter, and Instagram. For the first level of the game, participants must answer yes/no or true/false questions. The next level required participants to choose the answers for multiple choice questions. The final challenge consisted of open-ended questions.

Participants can score a total of 100 points in the entire game.

Overall, students found the game to be a fun way of exploring the Library's various resources and facilities.
