NIE welcomes many local and international visitors throughout the year. They may be here for study visits or to attend the myriad of courses and programmes available. These visitors sometimes tour the Library as part of their itinerary or programme in NIE.
Here are some highlights of the groups that dropped by the Library in the first few months of 2024.
125 Secondary 4 and 5 students from Hua Yi Secondary School came by on 5 January 2024 as part of a campus tour organised by their school to expose them to the wide ranging opportunities available in the many tertiary educational institutes in Singapore and to inspire them to be future-ready.
In collaboration with the NIE Graduate Student Club (NIEGSC), 77 new NIE graduate students were treated to a tour of the Library as part of the NIEGSC Orientation campus tour on 19 January 2024.
They were introduced to a range of Library facilities and services which can support their academic journey including: searching and requesting for books, the SMART Locker, library workshops, Learning PODs, photocopying and printing services etc.
29 January 2024 saw a visit from pre-service teachers from The University of Queensland.
The guests were warmly welcomed and accompanied on a tour of the Library that included the Instructional Materials collection which showcases school textbooks, workbooks, and teachers' guides used in Singapore schools.
On 23 February 2024, we welcomed staff and students from the Faculty of Education, Chiang Mai University, Thailand who were here for a study visit.
Students from Long Road Sixth Form College in England arrived on 28 March 2024. They comprised mainly GCE "A" Level students who were interested to learn about NIE's sustainability features and efforts. Besides a guided tour of the Library that focused on the sustainability aspects, the highlight of their visit was a first hand experience of AR and VR technologies at the newly-launched Library LIBytes, which certainly piqued their interest!
