Creativity should never feel complicated or intimidating, and that belief is what sparked the development of NIE Library’s new iCreate Studio, which was officially opened on 25 February 2026.

The studio was opened by Associate Professor Chua Bee Leng in a ribbon‑cutting ceremony and the unveiling of the commemorative plaque marking this occasion. A special open house was held over two days following the launch, complete with 30-minute introductory sessions to give staff a guided preview of the functionalities of the studio.

The iCreate Studio was built on the belief that technology should support creativity rather than complicate it. The space is designed to be intuitive, empowering, and welcoming to both first‑time creators and seasoned presenters.

The equipment made its debut during NIE’s National Day celebration, capturing countless “Happy Birthday Singapore” messages and photos. Since then, it has supported a wide range of recordings, from conference introductions and interviews to course content and student presentations. Its very first faculty user, Associate Professor Swarup Mukherjee, discovered it during that same National Day event.

The iCreate Studio stands as more than just a room with equipment. It represents a doorway to creativity and the belief that anyone can create.
